Cross Boundary Working

Age Concern South East Wales (Contact: Jeff Hawkins)

1 August 2007

Because of mutual concerns about the future of commissioning for regional services, the role of Local Service Boards and the continued pressure on resources the three Age Concerns in Cardiff and the Vale, Gwent and Morgannwg decided to explore the implication for the way they currently operate as independent services providers within a federal Age Concern structure.

Healthcare Alliances was appointed by the three Age Concerns and Age Concern Cymru to report on the options, advantages and risks of developing cross boundary working.

The aim of this study was to identify the benefits of a common service model for Age Concern in Wales, based on three South Wales organisations: Age Concern Morgannwg (RCT), Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and Age Concern Gwent.
