Healthcare Alliances led a multi-disciplinary team to consider the options for child care facilities in the trust. Membership was made up of representatives from staff groups, personnel, estates and hotel services. The team developed a list of options.The main benefit criteria used for the assessment of options were:- meet demand- provide a consistently high standard of childcare for the children of the staff of North Glamorgan NHS Trust.- flexibility to match the needs of staff in terms of opening hours and days- provide accommodation which is safe, hygienic, easily assessable and stimulating.- ensure that the individual child’s welfare is paramount.- create an environment in which each child is valued as an individual and is encouraged to develop positive attitudes to differences of race, culture and religion.- ensure that the nursery represents good value for moneyaffordable for users- focussed on the needs of staff with children- quick timescales for implementationThe options were considered and assessed on both service and financial grounds.
