Baseline Assessment of Mental Health Promotion & Prevention

Cardiff Local Health Board (Contact: Fiona Kinghorn, Principal Health Promotion Specialist)

2 October 2005

The Cardiff Children’s Partnership (CCP) has identified the emotional health needs of children and families as one of its six key priorities for action over a four year period (2004-2008). In order to address this priority the partnership is undertaking a mapping exercise in Cardiff to assess what initiatives are already in place and what developments are likely to be needed in the future. The mapping process will identify links, gaps and overlaps and examples of good practice. The work will inform the mental health promotion action plan from 2005 onwards. The plan will promote local practice and initiatives in emotional health that help to sustain the mental health of children and young people during stressful periods of their lives.
