Overview:

A one day workshop designed to focus on fine tuning communication and listening skills to enrich relationships between clients, relatives carers and with colleagues

Learning Objectives:

  • Experience what disrespect feels like
  • Understand the difference between dignity and respect
  • See things from a patient's perpective
  • Practice advanced communication techniques

Course Content:

  • Examples of disrespect
  • The impact of the care setting, care activities
  • The influence of staff behaviour
  • Kindess is not respect
  • "What do you see"
  • Barriers to communncation
  • Reflective listening
  • Taking it forward in the workplace
