Trying to implement service developments and reorganising structures are difficult when you are busy dealing with everyday issues and resolving operational matters. However, having a structure and framework for leading change helps to reduce resistance and eases the transition process. This workshop covers the most important ideas of modern leadership thinking about, and insights into, managing change.

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate change management theories
  • Recognise why change is often resisted
  • Apply the use of those theories in practice
  • Consider different leadership approaches to change
  • Understand how to plan and evaluate change
  • Develop a structure for implementing and managing change

Course Content:

  • Three types of change
  • Change quadrants
  • Purpose and vision
  • Measuring success
  • Complexity and strange resistors
  • Agreement and certainty matrix
  • Adaptive leadership
  • Developing your team
  • Your personality and impact
  • Kubler-Ross Change Curve
  • Management fashions and fads
  • Haighmoor and Hawthorn experiments
  • 4 + 2 formula

Feedback:

  • Breaking change down into small steps makes it much more manageable
  • Excellent discussions with other delegates ‘time to discuss and think'
  • The session on direction, resources, permission and boundaries was particularly useful
  • Working together on an issue was very helpful - bouncing of ideas, thoughts etc
  • "Keep it simple!" - a key message
